This check is carried out by the Austrian Health Insurance Fund using the A1 form. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">As a rule, persons who <strong>work less than 25% of their working hours in Austria<\/strong> are subject to compulsory insurance in Switzerland or Liechtenstein. These persons are treated almost like \u201cnormal\u201d cross-border commuters. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">However, if <strong>more than 25% of the working hours are worked in Austria<\/strong>, the insurance obligation falls on Austria and this means that the health insurance must remain in Austria. To register, please contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gesundheitskasse.at\/cdscontent\/?contentid=10007.853295&amp;portal=oegkdgportal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contributions department of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund<\/a> directly (by e-mail: <a href=\"mailto:beitragsabteilung@oegk.at\">beitragsabteilung@oegk.at<\/a> or by telephone 0043 50 76619 &#8211; 1348) <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_message]<span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">The contribution rate is:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>1.1% of gross salary<\/strong> for monthly salaries up to \u20ac 551.10 (as at 2026)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>37.75 % of gross salary<\/strong> for monthly salaries above the marginal earnings threshold<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>The contributions must always be paid by the employee alone!<\/strong>  The company in Switzerland or Liechtenstein will not contribute to the costs.<\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_message][vc_column_text]\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Note:<\/span> Under Austrian law, the employer must submit social security notifications and pay all social security contributions (employee and employer&#8217;s share) to the Austrian Health Insurance Fund. The employer is entitled to deduct the employee&#8217;s share from the gross salary. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Geneva; font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Employers without a permanent establishment in Austria have the option of transferring social security obligations to the employee.<\/strong>  A corresponding agreement must be concluded for this purpose. We recommend that you talk to the Austrian Health Insurance Fund<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gesundheitskasse.at\/cdscontent\/?contentid=10007.853295&amp;portal=oegkdgportal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(&#8211;&gt; for contact details<\/a>) <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">If such an agreement is concluded, you must complete the registration form and submit it to the \u00d6GK together with the agreement signed by both parties (contractor and client). When the registration is received by the \u00d6GK, a certificate will be issued immediately stating that Austrian legal provisions apply in this case (form A1).
